I have recently begun listening to audiobooks, although hesitant at first I quickly fell in love and in the last 24 hours have laughed with Bernice as she bobbed her hair, cried when Benjamin Button became so young that he failed to exist and gasped as Dorian Gray discovered the truth behind his portrait... Although the pleasure of reading the written word could never be matched there is something quite satisfying about "reading" whilst working...However I do feel a tiny bit of guilt, like I owe it to the author to read for myself... Is anyone else an audiobooker?

ps- I found a few photos from the crypt that I thought i'd share, apparently there was a time when I liked to accessorise with combs..

Interview with Jaclyn of Audrey Grace Boutique

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the lovely Jaclyn Bethany who is to open a Pop-Up store in Jackson this coming November (I am making a collection of dresses for the store which I am terribly excited about!)

This lady has sourced the most amazing bunch of designers and artists to stock, if I lived in the States I would be there is a heartbeat!

Please tell us a little about yourself?

I'm Jaclyn and I will be a senior at Fordham University in NYC in the fall. I study acting, which is my first love, but I enjoy fashion as well. I'm enjoying a bit of the gypsy life at the moment, I'm in Sydney for six weeks and then have a little break at home before going to London for the rest of the summer. I'm studying acting and film, plus of course doing lots of shopping along the way! I will also be a fashion intern at Teen Vogue in the fall, which is really exciting!

What was it like to grow up in Jackson, Mississippi?

It was really wonderful. Jackson is a magical place full of green spaces, beautiful homes, and great food. I love to go home when I get a break, but I really prefer the energy of a big city to a small one such as Jackson. But all my family is there, and it will always have a special place in my heart.

What inspired you to open your boutique Audrey Grace?

I grew up surrounded by very fashionable women. My mom and grandmother are both very into fashion. It has always been a dream of mine to open a store. I just decided to go ahead and do it because I found the support I needed and had a really concrete idea. I think starting it as a pop up boutique in my hometown, is a really good way to test the waters. I chose the name Audrey Grace because every woman is inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly at some point in their lives!

What are you favourite Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly films?

My favorite Audrey films are Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, Sabrina, Charade and Love in The Afternoon. My favorite Grace Kelly films are Rear Window and To Catch A Thief. I love both ladies in all of their films pretty much!

Any favourite costumes?

The pink dress and opera coat Audrey wears in Breakfast at Tiffany's. All of Grace Kelly's costumes in Rear Window and To Catch A Thief. I love the way she wore scarves.

What is it that you love about these two lovely ladies?

Not only were they style icons, they also led very interesting and inspiring lives. They always put their family before their career, which I find admirable. Although Grace was not allowed to do any more films when she was married, she still continued to be a beautiful representation of an American style icon while living abroad.

What kind of girl shops at Audrey Grace?

I really hope the store will attract every kind of girl! I really want to bring out the individual style of all my customers. I don't want them to feel like they have to conform and can dress the way they want to!

What kind of clothing and artwork can we expect to see in store?

A variety of clothing, art work and accessories from all over the world. Everything is really beautiful. The designers and artists I have sourced are really amazing and the products that will be in store are very unique and will be personal to each shopper.

Any plans for the future post Pop-Up Store?

Yes, the plan is to open a stand alone boutique post pop up shop. I don't know where yet, it just depends on if the pop up concept does well enough, I hope it does!

Thank you so much Jaclyn! Be sure to visit the stores beautiful blog and facebook!

The Wendy dress custom made in "Endless Meadows" vintage fabric

The Lucy blouse in Pale blue

Here are a few goodies i've shipped off in the past week,
I must remember to take a snap of the darlings before sending them off as many are one of a kind and I would love to remember them forever!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the week. I've spent the day in millinery class making a 1920s cloche/bathing cap with a big stripey bow on the brim, although it is for a costume i'm making.. I think I shall attempt to wear it off the stage too;)

The 12 Apostles

It was my birthday last month and to celebrate we hired a car and drove down the Great Ocean Road to the 12 Apostles.

After an entire day of driving, to arrive at sunset and see the amazing rock formations bathed in yellow and orange light is really very beautiful!

I recently made a dress for the lovely Caitlin Shearer in exchange for the most beautiful painting of a pretty lady wearing one of my dresses!

She is currently resting on my mantel and makes my heart flutter whenever I pass by. I feel so lucky to have an original piece by such a talented artist.

Lovely Ladies

A few weeks back my lovely friend Michelle and I enjoyed an afternoon of craft, tea and the most amazing vegan pear and walnut crumble you will ever taste! She was darling enough to bring me those beautiful flowers in the first picture and even left me with one of her creations - the cutest miniature bunting, it makes me smile everyday:)

The orange tulips are from my Mum when she was visited back in February, it was beautiful to watch them bloom. At the moment I have a beautiful bunch of pink tulips given to me by yet another doll, thanks ladies!
