Basking in the Sunlight

Today Melbourne was graced with a beautiful sunny day!

There was an almost summery feel in the air. As I have a looming pile of dress orders to get through I was unable to frolic down by the seaside drinking cider as I would've liked to of done.... However I did take a little break to lounge around in the Darling Dette dress and feel the sun on my skin.

I'm starting to get get itchy feet for the warmer months and cannot wait to step outside without having to wear layer upon layer of warm woollens!

Pug Life

I've just returned from my trip to Sydney! It was so great to spend time with my family and my newest best friend Morry.... If I could wake up every morn to a little pug in a sweater snuffling my face my life would be complete.

I didn't do as much sight seeing as intended due to heavy heavy rain but managed to do quite a bit of beer sipping, dancing and nacho eating. When the rain cleared I frolicked around a fun park like a 5 year old, took long walks around the inner west and visited the seaside.

One of the more memorable moments of the trip was attempting to run through a barrel ride at Luna Park (Wooden barrels spinning in opposite directions) I fell flat on my face and kept rolling up the wall only to fall again and again.... My Mum followed me in and met a similar fate, only men from all around the park came running to help her out. We laughed until we cried then lost ourselves in a mirror maze and slid down giant slides in an effort to recover from our injuries...

I was smitten with Sydney and can't wait to make my way back there sometime soon! Thanks to my brother's lovely lady Phoebe of Dollybird for these beautiful snaps of my pal and I!

Madame Fancy Pants

A handful of handmade darlings will soon be available at Madame Fancy Pants in Wellington New Zealand! This little store sounds right up my alley and I do hope I can see it in person in the not too distant future.

Speaking of travel, tomorrow I am heading to Sydney to celebrate my brothers 25th birthday. I am so excited to see my family and escape this unfavourable, chilly Melbourne weather for 6 glorious days. I haven't spent much time in Sydney and can't wait to put on my tourist garb and do some exploring! If you know of any must see Sydney haunts I would be delighted to hear from you x

Many Seams Later...

A few snapshots of a dress i've been working on (also my mannequin love...) A rockabilly frock for Two-Bit Villains in Adelaide.

Aside from sewing into the wee hours I have also been meeting up with some of my very favourite people. Last night I met with Josie of Frances Baker for a few beers and a chinwag. I can't express how wonderful it is to have a friend to talk blogging, craft and sewing with, we could've talked all night. We are planning on sharing a little stall at the North Melbourne market this September which I am really thrilled about!

This morning me and the Mr had an amazing brunch with the coolest kids on our block... these darlings really know how to put on a spread! We also drank tea from my very favourite teapot which I will snap a photo of next time i'm there. Afterwards I met a lovely couple who are to be wed in August. I am making the wedding dress! The bride is an artist and chose all her own beautiful fabrics... I will say no more but am really looking forward to this project!

Winter Vacation

I'm currently enjoying a glorious 7 week holiday from University. Glorious as it is I am still a super busy bee and have Peter Pan collars and circle skirts coming out of my ears.

Working from home is like a dream come true. Its all about sleeping in, tea sipping, podcast listening and working into the wee hours of the morn. Many ideas have been stewing and I will be sharing some new dress styles within the coming days which I am terribly excited about!

Ladies of Leisure

This past Sunday I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Josie of Frances Baker at one of the sweetest establishments in town... The Hopetoun Tearooms. Her lovely blog has been one of my very favourites for quite some time, so I was delighted that we could meet in person.

Her beautiful photography, craftiness and thought provoking posts send me into a swoon and I had the most wonderful time with her. Having a lovely new friend to talk craft, sewing, treats and tea with is a dream!

We spoke of many projects that we plan on working on together and she is even going to join me in the studio for a spot of frock sewing (super exciting) I enjoyed myself so much that I completely forgot to take any photographs... Which is a shame as Josie looked cute as a button! However I did manage to rustle up some photographs of Collins St in the early 1900s..

PS- Josie and her sister are the creators of the very lovely zine Apple Cart, jam packed with creativity and sweetness, it will be sure to bring a smile to your face and make you feel all warm inside. If your an out of towner you can order a free copy online, these gals have thought of everything!
