Alpine

I have felt like a human machine this past week. Pumping out around 10 dresses, 4 of which were Bridesmaid's dresses and one a Bride's going away dress. After finishing this mammoth effort I collapsed in a heap yesterday afternoon and spent the evening in bed drinking wine, eating cheese and watching Winona movies... possibly the best ever remedy for exhaustion/the blues/cramps/Melbourne heat waves.

I have 10 more dresses to sew then I am going to get started on some very special one of a kind numbers. I've been saving a big stash of fabric that will be perfect 1960s party dresses. I am so excited to bring these babies to life!

Also I wanted to mention the intense love I feel for the cardigan i'm wearing in these pictures. Affectionately known as Alpine this darling once belonged to my great Aunt and was on it's way out when she passed away 4 years ago. I rescued it from the throw out pile and have been wearing it religiously ever since. It is my very favourite cardigan to wear whilst sewing and my other half ensures me it will be perfect for wearing in the snow, maybe not so much for its warmth but definitely for its 1970s ski lodge vibes.

For anyone that hasn't entered the Kitten Dress Giveaway get in quick as today is your last chance. The competition ends tonight and I will be announcing this winner first thing tomorrow, woot!

  1. Well you look quite dashing for someone laboring so much! It all sounds like good fun though, and the outcomes are always beautiful x

    2. I agree, Valerie! It should be illegal for someone to look so polished when they are working hard!!!

Louise Brooks is alive and sewing!

  2. Wow, Melbourne can't be as hot as Adelaide if you can get away with wearing 'Alpine'!! It's 'cooled down' to 35 today ;)

Love the cardie - it looks brand new!

    1. We are currently going through a little heatwave of our own, nothing like Adelaide it's getting close! Luckily I live in an ancient apartment with super thick walls so although its sweltering outside its nice and cardi cool indoors! It is in immaculate condition, which is surprising as its seen quite abit of tough love (from me...) in its time xx

  3. I love your Alpine sweater! It's so nice to have something to wear that belonged to someone you loved. My best friend gave me her grandma's favorite jacket from the 50s when she passed away because it didn't fit her, and she knew I'd wear it and she wanted to see someone wearing it to be reminded of her grandma. I thought that was nice of her to think of me :)

    1. Mabel thats such a beautiful story! I don't normally get attached to clothes but I find when they have a backstory I just want to hang onto them forever, they mean so much more <3 I've also been using my Grandma's leather handbag from the 1970s for the last 6 years or so and although it's falling to pieces I still won't give it up x
