Lady Grey

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but this may be the very last wool free outfit post of the year. These photographs were taken a few days ago, before New York was transformed into a snow globe! Yesterday I was sewing away at work when I looked out the window to see snow falling in abundance. I've seen snow a handful of times but never before have I seen it falling from the sky. I spent the rest of the afternoon sneaking peeks over my shoulder at the delicate snow flakes nestling on the window sill, grinning like a five year old and listening to Christmas Carols on my Ipod.

Oli and I decided to celebrate this momentous occasion by going out for burgers, this was a great idea but with the nearby subways still out of action we spent many hours traipsing through the thick blanketed streets. I also spent quite a bit of time on the ground... I'm bracing myself for many public humiliations this winter.

Despite my wet buns and numb fingers it was a pretty magical night, to my dismay by this morning most of the snow had already melted. Maybe I still have a little while left before snow boots and furry hats become a part of everyday life after all.

  1. Oh the dress and jacket are gorgeous on you, who'd of thought grey could look so damn fabulous. I love snow but it's not very easy to get around in, you should get yourself some rubber gripped booties! xxx

  2. You saw it too eventually ;D I can imagine what a magical moment might have been for you, Katie! I remember the very first time I saw the snow when I was little, and I mean VERY little, like less than 1 year old (I was born in august and it snowed in february) but it was such a strong image that I still have it here in front of me, I remember only shadows of the room around me and the afternoon light, but the snow, it's like if "my lens" focused on it! :)

I soooo love the snow! We don't get it very regularly in winter here on the West coast of Canada, but when it happens I can't stay away from it. So much fun. :)

    1. Thank you Courtney! I thought it would've snowed all Winter long in Canada! I still have several fun snow activities to cross off my list, snow angels, snow men and snow ball fights are all going to be on high rotation this Winter xx

  4. I absolutely love your current hair. :) Is it shorter at the back, or is it just the wind making it seem so?

    1. Thank you so much:) The last time Oli cut my hair he made the back pretty short, I'm really chuffed with the results. I'll be sure to include some photographs in one of my next posts! xx
