Big Sur

After a rugged week of camping along the California coast we have landed in Sonoma, a charming town north of San Francisco known for its vineyards. Lazing in the afternoon sunlight with a belly full of wine, I couldn't be more content. We had a tiny taste of San Francisco on the drive through last night, I cannot wait to spend more time in that darling city!
Earlier this week we were lucky enough to stay a few nights at Big Sur. It was one of the places I really wanted to see, probably because I listened to this song a million time as a teenager... It was so beautiful falling asleep under the ancient Redwoods and waking up each morning to the trickling of Big Sur river. Despite a run in with a pesky raccoon (seriously, how does such a small creature manage to open an ice box and eat 12 eggs and 10 whole avocados?) i'm starting to get used to life on the road. Speaking of, i'd like to introduce Woody, our new van/home. Isn't he handsome?

Lastly, a little interview I did over at Cellar Door Mag which i'd love you to read if you get the chance, thanks Holly! x

So Cal

A big hello from California! It's been one hell of a fortnight, from bottomless cups of jo and cherry pie to breaking down on the freeway and having to sleep in a junk yard... We've stumbled through every possible obstacle but have kept our weary heads up and managed to have a smashing time.

With the worst behind us we are now on the road living out of a handsome '91 Dodge. We'll be spending the next few nights under the redwoods at Big Sur before slowly making our way up the coast to San Francisco.

If the USA doesn't break me it will surely leave me rotund and boozy. The price of living is so incredibly cheap and try as I might I just can't keep my paws off all the beer and tasty burgers!

Doily Art and Farewells

A portrait of Oli and I drawn by a little sweetheart named Talia

After a whirlwind fortnight of farewell parties, driving tests, apartment scrubbing and 24 hour sewing sessions I am currently relaxing in my brothers apartment in Sydney dreaming of the In-N-Out Burger i'll be eating as soon as we get to LA tomorrow. This whole adventure still doesn't feel the slightest bit real, but in 24 hours time we will of waved farewell to Australia and hello to California. Crazy.

Today was my 24th birthday, it was also Easter which was neat as it was like one big Birthday/Easter/Bon-Voyage party rolled into one! After so many months of hard work it was wonderful to have two full days to hang out with my darling family, drink beer and eat delicious festive food. The only way to celebrate.

Well best be trying to get some shut eye, next time we speak I will hopefully be filled to the brim with pie and filter coffee. Until then xx
