Fancy Fine

Photograph by Mont Clare

Today I am delighted to be guest blogging over at Fancy Fine. Mont Clare and I spent the day at my beloved Clearwater Beach, after we took these photographs I traded in my vintage red dress for my favourite floral bathing suit and hit the waves. It's easy to see why I fell in love with this place! Pop on over to Ashley's blog for the full post....

City of Sin

Photographs by Mont Clare

Some of my favourite candid snaps from Las Vegas. I spent most of our time there with a Pina Colada in one hand and alternated between a giant beer/cheeseburger in the other.

Although we never intended to visit Vegas, i'm SO glad we did. It has to be the hammiest place on earth and that's why I love it so. Something about all those Drive-Thru Wedding Chapels and novelty sized cocktails make my heart sing!

Sink or Swim

Photographs by Mont Clare

Although these photographs were taken way back in Las Vegas they are a pretty accurate depiction of what we've been up to all week. Day after day we can be found at Clearwater Beach perfecting our backflips, handstands and underwater breath holding. Late yesterday afternoon we were so preoccupied by these activities that we near missed a pod of dolphins frolicking only metres away. It wasn't until a kind man waved and pointed frantically that I noticed the beautiful creatures gliding by.

Over the past few years i've spent most Summer's indoors, sewing frock after frock and avoiding the heat. Now I get itchy feet if I go more than a day without a dip. How i've missed the feeling of salt water on my skin and sand between my toes!

I'll Say Goodbye to Colorado

Tz_e6n on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs

Back when we were in Colorado last month we spent a few nights in the Rocky Mountains. After weeks of being cooped up in Woody and with plenty of energy to burn we embarked on quite an ambitious hike. As we reached each milestone we figured we'd just keep pushing ourselves further and further until eventually we were stumbling over seemingly untraversed rocks and I was near dragging myself up the steep incline. I may of proclaimed at this point that I wanted to die.

Just so you know i'm not fooling, most of the other hikers were brandishing those funny hiking spike implements and one tough looking guy had a super heavy nosebleed. I like to think that this had something to do with the high altitude as the air seemed pretty thin, but who knows...

In the end it was well worth the pain as we reclined at the mountains peak under shady trees feeling the cool spray of a giant waterfall on our faces, eating snacks and watching trail horses trot past.

The next day we settled on a much milder hike and afterwards swung by the gift store. I'm not one for souvenirs but I've found the National Parks of America to have the greatest selection of vintage style postcards. Although I keep in touch with family and friends over the internet there is nothing quite like receiving a handsome handwritten postcard in the mail, wouldn't you agree?

Summer's Dawn

During the past few weeks i've been tickled pink to see some of the dresses I made for Audrey Grace popping up across the internet, modelled by some of my very favourite style bloggers.

You can imagine my delight when I saw the Summer's Dawn photo shoot by Simon Filip featuring his beautiful sister/muse Becky wearing a collection of darling dresses available in the Audrey Grace online shop including my very own 'Bluest Eyes in Texas' dress. I have long admired this talented Californian duo and cannot help but feel a rush of pride looking at these photographs.

It has been exactly 3 months, 5 days since I last touched a sewing machine and seeing so many lovely ladies wearing my designs has left me with seriously itchy feet. I am so grateful for this little break as i'm now feeling refreshed, full of inspiration and cannot wait to arrive in New York and start creating again!

Snow Capped Peaks

Photographs by Mont Clare

Medium format photographs from our visit to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Park last month. Coming to America I had only seen snow once in my life, and what a poor excuse for snow it was. In the past few months I have seen some pretty spectacular snowy peaks and have found myself feeling giddy with excitement each and every time. I'm yet to witness falling snow... just one more thing to look forward to this winter!

Life in Florida is treating us well, yesterday we spent the afternoon kayaking on Honeymoon Bay. It was pretty awesome, although I was pretty envious of all the people floating around in inflatables drinking frosty beers. After too many hours in the sun we headed to a tiny Greek town called the Sponge Docks and enjoyed some traditional Greek flaming cheese.... I could eat this by the bucket load.

Today we're heading back to the ocean to splash around and escape the intense summer humidity, lucky for us we're only a 20 minute bicycle ride from some of the most handsome beaches in Florida.

Hello it's me.

Photographs by Mont Clare

After weeks of zig-zagging across the country we've arrived in Clearwater, Florida where we will be hanging with family for the next few weeks. As much as I love van life it is rather refreshing to sleep in a real bed and have a shower whenever I please instead of having to seek out a public pool or beach.

I've been spending most of my time reading 1920s mystery novels, swilling wine and occasionally riding to the seaside to cool off. Mont Clare has started developing black and white film again more of which you can see here and baking pumpkin pies, although I was initially wary of this style of pie I am now well and truly hooked.

Life is swell!

Also, i'd like to thank Tara-Lynn of Good Night, Day who recently did a lovely post on my travels
