The Orchard

Photographs by Tim of Nicol & Dime

Felt cloche - Gordon Hat Shoppe
1940s dress - vintage wardrobe department clearance sale
1940s fox - gift
Edwardian boots - gift

I spent this past weekend at the Nicol family Christmas in July, four hours north of Sydney in the rolling hills of Gloucester. Weekend trips to the countryside have become a bit of a staple of late, come Friday afternoon I can't wait to jump in the car and bid adieu to the smoke stacks for a short while. Between scoffing rocky road, eyeing off dream cars at the country fair, singeing my feathers in front of the roaring fire and endless games of Rummy we managed to sneak off into the orchard to take some outfit shots. The fruit trees were exploding with every kind of citrus known to man and I took home enough home made marmalade and chutney to last for eons.

If you notice a slight twinkle in my eye and smug smile that is because I have in my possession the most incredible Edwardian boots. I never ever thought I'd find a pair that fit my thoroughly modern sized feet but my fella managed to track down a pair in a size 8 wide (whaaaaat!) I gotta say these babies are gonna be lucky if they go a single day off my trotters, they are so darn comfortable it near brings a tear to my eye.

Anyway enough swooning from me, time to get back into the rat race.
